Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

This is my first time participating in the blog hop and I'm so excited. I would be even more excited if my new goodies had arrived in time for this Challenge. But sadly I am still waiting. Two of the things I ordered this month would have been just perfect for this Challenge. I am getting some cream and simply chartreuse felt.  But enough of that pity party. Here is my card, nothing fancy, no great out of the box technique, just plain, simple me. I used black felt and since I'm Simply Chartreuse deficient, I used Kiwi Kiss instead. I (heart) Target

They always have the cutest little things. I don't go very often because I have no willpower what so ever and my poor wallet can't handle it. But I did go the other day to get a Gift Card for a Birthday Party that Keely is attending tomorrow. We were invited at the last minute and since I don't know what on earth to buy a  7 year old boy I thought a Gift Card would be just fine. Well let me just tell you they have some darn cute gift cards out now. Check out the one we picked up.
How stinkin cute is that. What little boy wouldn't love a thumb war gift card. My kids had never heard of thumb wars so they really tested this gift card out once I showed them how to use it. needless to say it could provide hours of entertainment.

So now for the card that has to be made. I will start by saying that I think little boy cards are the hardest cards to make. I can make masculine cards for older men but for smaller men it's not so easy. I did the best I could in the little amount of time that I could allocate for it.

Another Birthday Card

here is another card I made for my friend. This is the one I mailed so hopefully she got it by now and I'm not spoiling it for here. She loves to bike so this seemed like the perfect image for her. I hope you are enjoying your Friday. We are going to the Jubilee here in our city tomorrow. We don't have Fair's here as we don't live in a county, so I guess this Jubilee is the equivilant of that. Then Keely has a birthday party to go to. And hopefully thats all on tap for now.

Birthday party time

In just a couple of weeks my oldest will be turing 7.  This seems like such a big deal to me. I always have heard people saying how fast time flies when your kids are little but I think it is finally starting to hit home for me. Keely is growing so fast and I can barely remember when she was a baby. this year for her party we have invited 3 little girls to come and paint pottery with her at the local Pottery Studio. It should be a really great time. I think that Keely and the guests will really enjoy it. The only part that they won't like is that they have to wait a week to get their art back. Oh well, that's how it works. Here is the invite I made for the guests. I only had to make 3 so I got a little more detailed.  


I just love how they turned out. I used the cupcake set from papertrey Ink and it was so easy to create this little card. I love that you can use any color combo you want. I would have loved a die so that I didn't have to cut out all those   cupcakes but it really wasn't that bad.

Wildlife Palooza

We just stayed home this weekend for some down time. It seems like we've been running like crazy for the last couple of weeks. As a reward for staying put we got to see lots of fun wildlife in our yard and around the immediate area. On Saturday morning this prehistoric creature turned up in the front yard.
Not exactly a cute little turtle. This is a great big snapping turtle. I would have let the kids stand a little closer so you could get a good size realtion, but I was afraid he could move faster than I thought and I didn't want anyone to lose a finger. I would say that his shell was between 18" and 22" in diameter.Thank goodness my parents were visiting and my Dad was able to grab this monster by it's tail and put it into the woods so that it didn't get hurt or hurt someone. I'm still trying to figure out where this beast came from. We live in a large subdivision and all the houses on our street have fences. I am thinking that because we had a really big rain/tunderstorm the night before it must have drawn him out from the lake down the street and then he just wandered into our cul-de-sac.

Now to add to all that excitement for the kids, after we put it into the woods I told them in an hour he would be gone. So of course in about an hour we had to check on him. After opening the gate into the woods sure enough he was gone but while we were looking into the dense woods we saw a little common gray fox.  Now at this point you might be thinking that I live in out in the country. But no all this right at the edge of a huge city. Lucky us.

I had a little bit of free time and this card came togeher so fast. So here it is.

Off the Fence

and on the Couch. I hemmed and hawed about buying this set from Papertrey ink, but I finally broke down and I am so glad I did. This is such a cute set and with all the extra's that I can buy later I just know this set will be used a lot. I love that is comes with die's to cut out the couch. This makes my life so much easier. Here is my first card created with this wonderful set.

Enjoy the day

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday. This morning I took two of my kids to the park. That is what inspired this card. I went back to a favorite stamp of mine that I've had for several years. I just love the simple tree and tire swing. This stamp is from A Muse, I'm not even sure if they still carry this one or not. I also went back to an outdated color combo that I just love. It may be a little bit "babyish" but I think you can use it for anything. I hope you are doing something fun this weekend. Quickie Gift

Here in Virginia it's Teacher Appreciation Week and tomorrow is School Supplies so I made a quick little gift for Keely's Teacher. We just picked out some post-its, clips, and paper clips for her Teacher. Then I made the little tag for the bag. I think that presentation is just as important if not more important than the gift itself. this is definitely true when I am just giving a little something.

I hope you are having a good week. We have been busy here just doing the normal stuff. But I haven't gotten many cards made this week. Hopefully this weekend I can make something fun.
